the invalid who struggles in life
is not just a bodily invalid, but there is also
an invalid of soul, an invalid of mind.
usually, when we talk of invalidity,
we see and consider only physical invalidity;
we don't bring into consideration the invalidity of the soul
or the invalidity of the mind.
as far as the mind is concerned
we talk about mental handicaps.
as far as the soul is concerned,
we talk about depression
we talk about sadness
we talk about melancholy,
but we never mention invalidity.
can this term be applied
to these three situations of human existence
named above?
invalidity means
not being valid,
being impeded in freedom of movement
in terms of the body.
being impeded in mobility of thought
when it comes to the mind.
being impeded in the movement of feelings
when it comes to the soul.
we can define these three circumstances
coercive and limiting, in different terms.
but all have, alas, the same content.
there is something that impedes
the body from moving;
the thought from spreading with coherence, clarity and competence;
and the soul from living its motions
in harmony with existence and in harmony with events.
the most recognised, most discussed, most respected invalidity
the most shared invalidity is the physical.
but we say to you that physical invalidity is just a tiny thing
compared with mental invalidity
and smaller still compared with the invalidity of the soul.
a body doesn't live
all the completeness of its life
just in its physicality.
a body lives mostly
the totality of its life
through participation and creativity,
construction, furthering of knowledge
and exercising the mind
and thus thought.
and this completeness is fulfilled
only and exclusively
with the validity of the soul.
“ the body is not much on its own.”
the body with the mind and thought
begins to be something relevant.
but the body
with the mind and thought
and the motor of the soul
is a body achieved by man
in his thought process.
so, when man suffers
from one of these three invalidities,
there is a seriousness scale;
they are not of the same value.
the least is bodily invalidity;
in the middle is mental invalidity;
the maximum is invalidity of the soul.
can these three invalidities
be connected?
partly yes, partly no.
you know well that nothing is exact
nothing is precise
and nothing is definite
if not the indefinite:
everything is and everything isn't.
everything is linked
and everything has an effect
and a chain reaction
on everything else that is existence.
this message
this teaching
this communication
call what you will what we have to say,
is granted to you so that
your thought, your mind,
your feeling, your soul
can further explore
what the truth of life is.
what, also, the judgment of life is
for those who find themselves in the situations
of these invalidities.
you must see ever more clearly
you must be ever more inclusive of
that which is all movement of this being,
that which moves and makes move,
that expresses itself and receives expression
from all that manifestation entails
without stagnant compartments
without solutions of continuity
without drawers that can be opened and closed
uncaring of what the container of the drawer is.
look to see
listen to hear
is well-known.
discovering invalidities,
beyond the physical
that takes our heart so much
that so much makes us feel participants
that so much sees us as brothers,
to sustain those struck by physical invalidity,
must make us feel more brotherly
still more connected
still more supportive of those who have
invalidity of the mind and invalidity of the soul.
the mental body is much more subtle than the physical body.
the emotional body (soul)
is more subtle still than the mental body.
thus true growth
is needed by an individual who,
in addition to considering physical invalidity
can and must recognize the invalidity
of more subtle bodies.
one must look
with the eyes of the soul
one must look
with the eyes of love and of the heart.
the physical eye is just a part,
a rough embryo.
the physical eye is an organ of superficial sight
important, determining, participant,
but it too is just a point of passage
between interiority and exteriority.
if we looked only with the eye as a physical organ,
we would see little and we would know little of what we can see.
the physical eye helps us to go beyond.
it supports the spiritual vision
that vision of the soul that is true sight
to which we must all stretch out.
the invalid is a person who is limited
in one of his vital parts
in an existential part
of his being and of his own existence.
a bigger invalid is that person
who has limitation in his soul.
while you observe a brother
invalid in his body
and you look at him with pain and you look at him with pity
because you see him so worn out, so limited
in what is his physical limitation;
it could be that,
it might be that
the brother, limited in his physical possibilities,
sees in you, feels in you
a limitation of the soul.
and while you cry for him
because he cannot act with his body as you act;
he feels you, in his soul,
your hardened soul
your impeded soul
your invalid soul.
his bodily limitation
could have been the catapult
for the liberation of his soul.
and your liberty
your beauty
your bodily independence,
could be the nail, the claw, the brake,
on the liberation of your soul.
always dare to look, at everything.
not on a minority or priority scale,
not on a superiority or inferiority scale.
dare to look at everything like it is all necessary
in that moment for that individual,
for that spirit
of that which must be experienced.
sharing, brotherhood, love
mean:
tolerance, comprehension, justice.
dare to look to see
that our brother's bodily invalidity
has been or will be ours;
that our brother's invalidity
of mind or thought
has been or will be ours;
that our brother's invalidity of the soul
has been or will be ours.
we must all walk that path
that makes use of infinite paths
bringing the same experiences
to reach the place where we are all awaited,
in love
in universality
in absolute,
